Viruses and Spyware - Protecting Yourself and Your Computer

The most common threat to personal computers today are viruses, spyware, worms and other malicious programs (aka "malware") designed to install, propogate and damage and destroy a user's data or attack other computers without their knowledge or express permission.

They can do this by exploiting an insecure computer or network or by misleading the user into opening an attachment, downloading a program or visiting a website.

Cal Poly has taken steps to protect both on- and off-campus computers from being attacked. This page provides links to information about the most common Internet threats and how you can protect yourself and your computer.
